@AbrupTnDemandiN
We are in the third week of the new year and its safe to say a lot of us aren't keeping up with the promise we made to ourselves to be better individuals for 2016. I'm not here to judge, more so; to give a few pointers in how to stay on path with your resolutions.
Here are my top 5 ways to keep your resolutions:
1) Speak it into existence
It is important to envision your self doing what you want to do. Basically, if you can believe it, you can achieve it. Tell yourself daily, hourly, etc. that you can achieve your goal. For example; if your goal for the new year is to lose weight, recite to yourself every morning, " I will be healthy". Quick and simple reminder that can help you make better decisions in health during the day.
2) Brag
This may annoy others around you, but it sure can help you. Staying on the weight loss topic. If food and weight is ever brought up, be boastful and talk about the weight you have lost as compared to your goal, talk about the better life decisions you have made in order to partially achieve your goal. This is a helpful reminder to keep on the correct path and may influence others who are attempting the same feat.
3) Reminders tools
I have a dry erase board set up in my room, I won't lie it is not used as much as it should be, but; it is a great tool to help remind me every day I walk into my room of the things that need to be accomplished. In college I use to carry around a daily planner, the running joke was I was carrying around a diary (SMH). It was important for me to have that planner because otherwise I would forget certain tasks. One more tool that can be hand is your smart phone. there are all kinds of apps to write things down, from your calendar to Onenote. Find a tool to help you remind yourself of your goals.
4) Resolution partner
You don't have to do it alone, find someone who has similar goals as you and do it together. Be each other's motivation. Having a partner in your journey would definitely make it easier, you have someone to confide in that is going through similar challenges as you. You can gain strength in your partner and give some at in the same sense.
5) Track your progress
Knowledge is power, know where you are. Make a diagram, chart, use excel, find a way to have a visual of your progress so you can keep moving forward. Tracking will help you gain an idea of where you are so you know where to go. It is a measuring tool that is helpful.
If you have veered off your path it's never too late to get back in the right direction, use a few of these strategies to get back to your focus. Happy Ratchet Friday to all
Enjoy
