Weekend Observations 2/6/15 GF Birthday edition

Weekend Wonderland?

I am a lover of life, I appreciate most things the world has to offer and I enjoy sharing my life knowledge and experiences with others.Through the experiences I share. I hope you (the reader ) will decide to visit these venues and events.

(Un)fortunately I have a girlfriend born close to a major holiday. Fellas in my position understand the issue that comes along with this: difficulty booking events and venues, " Numbers crunch" trying to budget for both celebrations, etc. However,  I was able to attend a few events with her and my observations are dedicated to her. So let's begin:

Piquant
259 Flatbush Avenue

Located in downtown Brooklyn, within walking distance of the Barclay's Center,  you will find this wonderful restaurant.  The facility caters brunch and dinner, but; is more famously know for their bottomless brunch which includes a pre fixe meal menu and unlimited select drinks. The restaurant is very appealing to the eye and has a fantastic environment for either an intimate date or a gathering of a large group.  The food is delicious:  my favorite item on the menu is the steak (medium, how it's supposed to be) and cheese eggs. I have been to this restaurant a few times and I always have a great time

I rate Piquant : 9

Play Lounge
77-17 Queens Boulevard

This club is it's title,  a huge club with a "play" section that has pool tables,  a mini bowling alley,  flat screen TVs,  a bar area and a dance floor with couches for bottle service.  The Decor is very modern it has a Loft feel to it, open space with room dividers instead of walls to the ceiling,  the people that attended were in the age group of 25-40 and ready to have fun.  For this particular party women outnumbered men about 3:1, if you are single man in New York and have a difficult time finding women I definitely recommended you visiting this venue on a random weekend,  thank me later.  Dress code is business casual or no athletic wear, So leave your Dude rags at home, this is for the grown and sexy.
Although it is a good venue the location for the club is a bit out the way for the usual party goers.

I rate Play Lounge:  7.5

Ravel Hotel

Once again a loft theme,  spacious hotel room, open area bathroom area and lounge space,  mini bar with a view right under the Queens Borough Bridge.
Restaurant and lounge on the roof of the hotel.   Parking was tight and the heating system was not up to par.  Definitely a good hotel for a last minute booking. the location scenery wasn't the best besides the bridge and aquatic view.

I rate Ravel Hotel:  7

Bryant Park

Scenery was excellent,  many different backgrounds and ages of people took to skating in the ice skating rink located in the center of Bryant Park,  seemed to be an amazing experience for people that knew how to skate and to people who were first timers.  We ate lunch at Celsius, on the terrace the menu was fantastic,  they captured the feel of a cold winter day and what people would enjoy to comfort themselves in this weather.

I rate Bryant Park:  9

Grammys /Walking Dead

I spent my Sunday evening switching between The Grammys and the Walking Dead.  I had two major take aways from the Grammys:

 Kanye,  Kanye,  Kanye...
I was a major fan of Kanye pre "I am the best thing to happen to entertainment " . During the ceremony for Beck winning Album of the year, Kanye walked on stage then turned around and sat down in a joking manner.  To me I thought it was funny,  I loved the excitement of random behavior at such an event, those things are hilarious to me. I thought Kanye's intention was to joke, because ; Beck beat out Beyonce for the award. It was comedy at the moment, but after the award show Kanye was interviewed; this is where we realized Kanye wants to be dictator of the music industry;  to sum up his statement , he believed that Beck should have given away his award and he was serious about stepping on stage, because he believed someone else deserved the award.  I'm going to save judgement on the validity of that statement, due to the fact i haven't listened to Beck's album. Kanye represents a race of people and a culture; he needs to carry himself with more class whether his opinion is right or wrong.

Sam Smith
For almost a year now I have been listening to Sam Smith's music and trying to get others to give him a chance,  it's been a while since I have heard R&B music geared towards love and heart break rather than sex. This made me an immediate fan.  Recently Sam has "Come out the closet" and told the world he was homosexual and some people wouldn't give his music a listen to that fact.  Those types of things don't bother me and I'm glad he won 5 Grammys,  I'm here for his music,  not his sexual preference.

The Walking Dead

They killed kenny Tyrese, : -( . I hope the writers don't continue this theme, we want content as fans, not a long drawn out episode on a character dying,  sheesh,  it was sad but can we pack more action into these episodes,  I feel the way the show is going it's too "emotional " can we get back to the blood, gore and sex?

Thanks for reading and please share the article to others that can relate or might enjoy some the information given
